Prayer and a bunch of 9th graders

Tuesday was the unofficial beginning of the Confirmation mentoring program. Officially I guess it begins next Tuesday, when we have student orientation.

I think there’s a lot of untapped something that goes along with Confirmation. We pointed out to the parents, that, really, you HAVE TO GO TO MASS EVERY SUNDAY, or everything your kid is doing in the program means nothing. No, not nothing, but not nearly what it could. We have two retreats, one at the beginning, and another about a month after Confirmation, and at the second one (or at the Day of Reflection we’ve added) we teach the kids how to pray the Rosary. A disturbing number of them have never prayed it. But this year i want to talk about another form of prayer that night. I just don’t know what. I think its important that they learn to pray the Rosary, I also think its important to teach them that there are other ways to pray if the rosary doesn’t work for them.
