A note on why it’s Saint of my Choice Parish

When I was in high school, it must have been my sophomore year; I really wanted to be Catholic. But, my parents’ parish, Grade School Parish (GSP), just wasn’t cutting it. There was no youth group, and I’d known the priest since I was 9, and suddenly that just wasn’t cool anymore. Not that it really ever was, well, nothing at that parish ever made me really want to be there, especially after they repainted the ceiling and didn’t paint the gospel writers back above the altar.

So, I chose, to find a new parish, which sort of presented itself to me in the form of my friend’s parish, and youth group. And I’ve been an active member there ever since. I got married at SmCP, went to WYD with them three times, and volunteer there to get my scholarship. So, sometimes, the church shopping works out really well.

No, being an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist isn’t all about the wine. But it’s not a bad perk.
